Anonymous asked: Y'know, I did like this blog. But now you're coming off as rather sexist among other things. Saying straight white men are all entitled (with a few exceptions) is like saying all women are stupid bitches (with a few exceptions). It's not okay to paint everybody with the same brush based solely on what is between their legs and who they use it with--male or female, straight or not. As a vagina-owner, I gotta say that sexism is a two way street.
Saying straight white men have entitlement - like I dunno, the kind that takes over entire continents and commits genocide against Native peoples and establishes the horrors of chattel slavery, which was essentially creating a global market of rape culture - is as bad as as the misogyny and racism they perpetuated and continue to perpetuate?
And no, we don’t believe in generalising based on genitalia or perpetuating cissexism, though it sounds like you still do. If we’re going to pretend that white straight men somehow don’t have opportunities and default experiences to oppress others simply for the purposes of being nice to them, we’re never going to dismantle rape culture.
Until people start caring more about the racist and horrifically high rates of sexual assault and rape committed against Native American women by mostly white men - and give them the respect they damn well deserved for the last 500 years - I’m not going to go out of my way to make sure criticisms of white supremacy come with “respect.”
Until we care enough to teach the history of racist medical abuse, that still plagues Western institutions, more than that of exalted racist rapists who cared only about wealth and prosperity for themselves, I’m not going to go out of my way for anyone other than the oppressed.
Until I’m receiving messages, daily, outraged at the treatment of oppressed people, as much as I do defending the honour of unspecified, ignorant white guys and/or people in general, I’m not going to address this type of rhetoric as anything other than a tantrum.
(My white boyfriend says this was funny for awhile this morning, but now even he’s getting sick of it: bottom line is, if he’s in shape knowing about how the world works, then doesn’t take criticisms of white supremacy as offensive or personal, see?)
